ACCMAN Institute of Management organized 2nd National Library Conference on theme "Digital Library Management & Challenges" - 19 November, 2011

"Leading National Library Conference; 300 plus participation's across the country; Conference Volume containing 102 titles"

Digitization is not merely a trend but need of the day for the power of accessibility, compactness, durability, and utilization it provides. While most of the knowledge and information resources are in form of e-Journals and e-Books, libraries too are getting digitized in a big way. It is the right time for library professionals to get together and apply themselves to the issues of management and challenges connected with Digital Libraries. In consonance with the need ACCMAN Institute of Management, Greater Noida organized on 19 Nov 2011 in their campus a mega National Library Conference on theme “Digital Library Management & Challenges”.

Prof. (Dr.) K.P. Singh, Director Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University and ex-Vice Chancellor V.B.S. Purvanchal University, Jaunpur speaking at the occasion as the Chief Guest, commending the institute on the level of mega conferences it has been organizing in various functional areas complimented specifically on the massive initiative taken in the field of library, and highlighted the need of strong digital libraries alongside the traditional ones.

Prof. (Dr.) K.C. Sahoo, Head Library & Information Science, Dr. Harisingh Gour Central University, Sagar (M.P.) speaking at the occasion as the Guest of Honour complimenting efforts of ACCMAN in bringing together library professionals from all over the country on a common platform, and called upon all library professionals to continue working together to have a well integrated strong digital library system.

Prof. (Dr.) D.S. Narban, Director of the institute, welcoming the delegated set the tone of the conference as a platform for vibrant deliberations with a long-term perspective connected with Digital Libraries in the areas of a strong system of easily accessible storage, a robust universally acceptable one single system of classification, policies for preservation, privacy, security surveillance, open sources, and institutional repositories, and total quality management in management of digital libraries.

The Volume Paper released during the conference contained 102 papers accepted for presentation during the conferences.

Last year the National Library Conference organized by ACCMAN, and declared the Best Library Conference of the year by LPA (Library Professionals Association) witnessed participation of 256 delegates, presentation of 60 papers and release of a volume of papers presented.

Dr. Satyaprakash, Chief Librarian and Organizing Secretary of the conference was confident that the library professionals will take forward the meaningful deliberations the conference generated.
